Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 637 Empowering Young Leaders in Castle Rock & Surrounding Communities

Boy Scout Troop 637 serves Castle Rock, Castle Pines, Sedalia, Larkspur, and the surrounding Douglas County communities. Originally founded in Sedalia, our troop has built a strong legacy of outdoor adventure, community service, and character development. Beginning in 2026, we are proud to enter an exciting new chapter chartered by Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock.

Why Troop 637?

• Scout-Led Weekly Meetings: Troop 637 meets every Tuesday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in Castle Rock at Castle Rock Elementary or MAC Park (weather permitting). Driven by youth leadership, every meeting follows a purposeful rhythm: starting with an opening flag ceremony, moving into hands-on skill activities, Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) planning, dynamic troop activities, or structured merit badge courses. These rotating sessions ensure Scouts continually advance in rank, gain real-world knowledge, and prepare for upcoming outdoor adventures. We wrap up each gathering with our traditional "circle up" for troop announcements, followed by an inspiring Scoutmaster’s Minute before dismissal.

• The Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC) is the monthly leadership and planning meeting where our youth leaders actively run Troop 637. Led by the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) with the Scoutmaster present as an advisor, the PLC brings together elected Patrol Leaders and youth officers to design upcoming weekly meeting agendas, coordinate logisitics for monthly campouts, plan community service projects, and make key decisions for the troop. All Scouts are encouraged to attend, participate in the discussion, offer their input, and take part in voting to help shape our troop’s activities.

• Outdoor Adventures & Summer Camps: ​Troop 637 offers a dynamic mix of outdoor trips and camps tailored for every stage of a Scout’s journey. Our program includes annual summer camp, National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) camp, and our own custom Trail to First Class campout designed to help newer Scouts master fundamental skills and advance through early ranks. 

• High Adventure Treks: For Scouts ready to push their boundaries, Troop 637 offers high-impact High Adventure expeditions to the premier outdoor destinations in the country. We have taken on the legendary rugged trails of Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, navigated the tropical waters and sailing routes of Florida Sea Base, and paddled through the pristine backcountry of Northern Tier. These challenging multi-day treks require months of crew planning, physical conditioning, and leadership development—delivering life-changing experiences where Scouts learn to lead under real wilderness conditions. Crew preparation begins a full year in advance, with Scouts leading the planning process, managing logistics, and completing a rigorous schedule of "shakedown" training hikes and skill-building outings to ensure the crew is fully prepared for departure. (Age 14+)

• Community Service & Local Impact Grounded in service, Troop 637 regularly plans and participates in projects that make a lasting difference across Douglas County. From hands-on conservation efforts—such as trail maintenance and wildfire mitigation —to supporting nearby schools, food banks, and civic organizations, our Scouts learn the power of giving back. Additionally, through capstone Eagle Scout projects, our older youth lead major community initiatives that leave a permanent positive mark on Castle Rock that create lasting benefits for our entire community.

• Recognizing Achievement: At Troop 637, every milestone counts. Through our merit badge program, Scouts explore a wide range of fields—from wilderness survival and first aid to environmental science and robotics—building practical life skills and discovering new passions along the way. To celebrate these hard-earned accomplishments, our troop hosts a biannual Court of Honor ceremony. Held twice a year, this special event brings families, friends, and leaders together to formally recognize each Scout’s rank advancements, merit badge achievements, and exceptional leadership, honoring the dedication and effort they put into their Scouting journey.

• Join Our Adult Leadership Team: Behind every successful Scout-led troop is a dedicated team of parents and adult volunteers. Troop 637 relies on family leadership to keep our program thriving— family involvement is essential to keeping our program strong, safe, and active.

  We welcome parent participation across a variety of leadership and support roles:

• Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmasters: Mentor youth leaders during meetings, outings, and outdoor adventures.
• Troop Committee Members: Manage behind-the-scenes operations, including Committee Chairs, Treasurer, Advancement, and Outdoor Coordinators.
• Merit Badge Counselors: Share your hobbies, career expertise, or passion projects to help Scouts earn rank advancements and explore new fields.
• Event & Activity Volunteers: Assist with driver transportation, campsite logistics, or fundraising projects throughout the year.
• We invite every family to get involved and lend their talents to support our Scouts' growth and journey to Eagle.
